Jamaica is out and disappointed. Australia is out and ticked off. Who knew bobsled was such a hotbed of controversy? Hot, in this case, being relative to a sport that seems essentially like an amusement-park flume ride if the water freezes. Then again, when it comes to some of the most traditional Winter Olympics sports, bobsled is among SportsNation's most beloved.

With the start of competition just weeks away, what sports are you looking forward to checking out? For our part, we're bumping freestyle skiing up the list, if only because any sport in which the person depicted in the logo is upside down must have something going for it.

(Quiz answers: 1) C; 2) D; 3) D; 4) A; 5) D)

Remember last year's Basketball Hall of Fame class? There was Michael Jordan and ... that other guy and, you know, some other dude, right? So it may be for those lucky enough to join locks-of-the-century Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith in the Pro Football Hall of Fame class set to be announced this weekend.

Rice is the best of all time, if you ask SportsNation, but how about some other candidates?

Vote: Is Tim Brown a Hall of Famer?
You don't get credit for your college career when it comes to Canton consideration, but doesn't Tim Brown get some sort of bump for being the rare Heisman winner who didn't go down in flames at the next level? Or for maintaining sanity despite playing 16 seasons for Al Davis? In or Out?

Vote: Is Cris Carter a Hall of Famer?
If all he really did was catch touchdowns, he'd have 130 career receptions, or 104 fewer than Matt Bouza. Thankfully, he had 971 catches that didn't count for six points but which made Minnesota the Fountain of Youth for quarterbacks from Jim McMahon to Randall Cunningham. In or Out?

Vote: Is Roger Craig a Hall of Famer?
Baseball fans have Bert Blyleven, and football fans have Roger Craig. The guy picked up 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season way back in 1985, back when defenses didn't have to play with one hand tied behind their back and ask for permission before they hit someone. In or Out?

Vote: Is Andre Reed a Hall of Famer?
In addition to being just about the most famous alum of Kutztown State -- unless you're a big fan of QVC's Jane Treacy -- Reed played a big role in helping the Bills reach four Super Bowls. Of equal importance, he can't be blamed for playing a big role in them losing all of them. In or Out?

Vote: Is Shannon Sharpe a Hall of Famer?
Notable for his penchant for emergency references -- would he stop and pick up Ray Buchanan in a snowstorm? No, he wouldn't. But he wanted Bill Clinton to send the National Guard to help the Patriots. Also notable for being perhaps the best pass-catching tight end ever. In or Out?

Ray Guy deserves to be in Canton. Shane Lechler will join him in 7 years. My Raiders aren't great these days so we produce Pro Bowl punters. If Tim Brown isn't a 1st ballot HOFer then there should be no hope for Floyd Little or Boomer Esiason.

Sorry, I may be partly biased, but no way does Tim Brown deserve it before Andre and considering Andre has been waiting since 2006 and Carter since 2008, it's a total travesty if Carter makes it in 1st. It was beyond a joke that Irvin got in 3 years ago while Andre was already waiting with better numbers

How will Danica Patrick fare in her first season running a part-time schedule in NASCAR's Nationwide Series? Like assessing her impact, it may depend on your expectations. On one hand, roughly 66 percent of SportsNation says it's no more likely to watch a Nationwide race with Danica than without her.

On the other hand, how many other people known for driving cars, short of perhaps Vin Diesel or Al Cowlings, have the name recognition to convince one out of three fans to at least think about tuning in?

The experiment starts with this weekend's ARCA race at Daytona, although Patrick said even a win wouldn't guarantee she'll suit up for the following week's Nationwide opener at the track. Once she does, ESPN.com Ryan McGee pegs her for three top-10 finishes.

JD (Boston)

Just how much do ARCA rides translate to Nationwide or Cup? Are the setups/feel similar enough to get a good test- or is it just seat time in a stock car with a steeper learning curve when they jump to NASCAR divisions?

David Newton
David Newton

It really won't matter much at Daytona if you're talking about Danica. Just put the pedal to the floor and fly. As far as the handling there's considerable difference. It's all about seat time and learning the track, not so much setups. Full transcript

Tim (Atlanta)

Over/Under 2.5 top 10 finishes for Danica in Nationwide this year?

Ryan McGee

Over. I think she'll get three. Full transcript

With Super Bowl seasons come highlights and video footage. Fans of the winner of Super Bowl XLIV can get the exclusive Super Bowl Champions DVD that will feature highlights from the season, including the playoffs and Super Bowl, in addition to behind-the-scenes footage. What do Bill Belichick and Geno Auriemma have in common? How about Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and Joe Torre? Or Pat Summitt and Mack Brown? Add up any of those combinations and the total number of championships still falls short of those which Phil Jackson won all by his lonesome. (We also would have accepted an unmatched ability to be taken seriously while wearing shades of orange for the last one.)

Jackson didn't add to his championship haul Wednesday night, but he did reinforce his place as the best coach of his generation, and in the debate for the best of all time, by passing Pat Riley for the most wins in Lakers history. Not too shabby considering the guy won six championships with another franchise. In fact, with apologies to Colbert Nation, there is really only one formidable opponent for the Zen Master: Phil Jackson.

So which version is more responsible for the success his teams enjoyed: Chicago Phil or Los Angeles Phil?

Justin (Detroit)

AK/BK, with all of the talk of GLOAT, let's talk a bit about GLCOAT. Is it Phil or Riley? Is rings all that matter in this debate?

ESPN Los Angeles' Brian Kamenetzky
Brian Kamenetzky

Hey Dylan-I'm going Randy Pfund. I kid. I think this one is as tough as any to call. Their coaching records are nearly identical, from the regular season to the playoffs (Riley has the better percentages in both, but in the postseason the difference is negligible). The titles are the same, the conference titles nearly identical. I think when it's over, PJ will probably pull ahead, but right now I'd call it a push. The one thing, maybe, that gives PJ an advantage would be he did it with two very different teams. In the not-so-distant-future, do you see Buss blowing up the Lakers once Kobe Bryant finally retires? We're talking about this at work today. Will they end up like Chicago, struggling to find another superstar to lead the team? Think it's fair to compare losing Bryant in L.A. to Chicago losing Jordan?

J.A. Adande
J.A. Adande

I believe Buss is willing to go all in right now to squeeze out a few more championships in the Kobe era and then will ease up after shelling out so much luxury tax $. There's a difference between Chicago and LA, though, in that the Lakers will have to stay competitive in order to keep selling tickets. The Bulls had suites sales locked into long-term contracts after Jordan retired, and ticket sales remained strong because United Center had become a destination (the house that Jordan built). L.A. doesn't work that way. The Lakers couldn't withstand a 7-year playoff drought the way the Bulls did. A good test case will be the crowds at the Coliseum if Lane Kiffin can't maintain that Pete Carroll momentum at USC. Full transcript

When Keyshawn Johnson turns out to be one of the more stable wide receivers to come off the board as one of the top 10 picks in the NFL draft, you know the position is a minefield. Linemen and quarterbacks are frequent targets in the upper reaches of the first round, but SportsNation considers wide receivers riskier than even running backs, linebackers, cornerbacks or safeties.

But really, by all means, go ahead and draft Dez Bryant.

We again turn things over to SportsNation's unofficial mock pundit, blogger 3rdStoneFromTheSun, who likes Rex Ryan, once he's finished forking over his $50,000 fine, lobbying for former Notre Dame star Golden Tate late in the opening round.

RC (Cincy)

Marty Gillyard had a great game at the senior bowl. What round do you think he will go in the draft, and what does he need to do to improve his draft stock?

Mel Kiper
Mel Kiper

He had the struggles early on in the Senor Bowl process, but he had a good game. His versatility will help him. He can be your return man. It's focus and concentration for him. If he does, I think he can be a No. 2 or No. 3 option in the NFL. I don't think he'll be a No. 1, but his return skills will be a plus. Full transcript

brian (paradise)

Matt-Do you see the Phins trying to get a standout WR through the draft or through free agency/trade route? Dez Bryant might look awfully tempting for the Phins to pass up.

Matt Williamson
Matt Williamson

I really think that needs to happen. Overall, I really see that as their only O need-and a must considering that they have a first year QB with a ton of potential. Would strongly consider someone like A Boldin or B Marshall as well. Same with Baltimore and Cincinnati. In fact, WRs are really in demand right now. V-Jax is a free agent, but I can't believe that he is going anywhere. We are obviously not sure yet how the draft will shape up, but a WR in round one seems logical as well. If they can get that guy, I would then go crazy on D with the other picks/resources. Full transcript
